I have been privileged to travel throughout S.E. Asia and China in search of spirituality and fulfillment and while on that quest I have been fortunate to visit the various tribes that live along the China border as well as the countries within the Golden Triangle. The beauty of the people their philosohy, culture and art is reflected in the hand loomed crafts of each village and region as well as traditional patterns and histories. Within each textile you will find a piece of tribal history along with a particular pattern and use of color.
Throughout the ages the people of Asia wove their fabrics and textiles to meet social and household needs. With colonization the needs of the vast majority have changed, however, there still exist today those few tribeswomen who sit and work at a handloom all day long in the stifling heat and humidity for that is the only opportunity open to them.
I have a gallery of textiles and fabrics that I have found along the way that I have placed on this site for you to enjoy. Each of the pieces that you see are hand woven or handloomed by these fabulous and gifted women and are brilliant folk art pieces as well as wonderful accessories to any wardrobe.
I sincerely invite you to browse and enjoy the unique textiles and fabrics that are a part of this exhibit and to feel free to inquire about any piece you may choose to purchase. I will donate a portion of all sales back to the tribes people as my contribution to their great talent and way of life.
* I ask for your patience as I go thru my files for photos best suited to this site but it shall not be long before I have them up.
thank you,
Lynda
